Camille the Steel Shadow
She is a strong diver and duelist who excels at isolating priority targets, but she struggles against heavy poke or disengage before level 6. You need to play around your Hookshot engage and ultimate lockdown to create winning fights. If your team lacks follow-up damage or gets poked down, Camille feels useless.
Use your Hookshot (E) to anchor on a wall, then launch at the enemy backline to apply the attack speed steroid and stun. You want to target squishy carries rather than tanks, since your true damage on Q helps melt anyone isolated. If you miss the E2 or engage onto a bruiser, you likely die for nothing.
Save your ultimate for high-value targets like marksmen or mages who rely on movement to survive, as the zone prevents them from escaping. Do not waste it on tanks or bruisers unless you need to peel them off your own carry. The knockback on cast also interrupts channels, so use it to stop abilities like Katarina's Death Lotus or Jhin's Curtain Call if needed.
Prioritize augments that boost your durability or ability haste, such as ones giving health, resistances, or cooldown reduction, because you must survive the dive long enough to get your Q2 true damage off. Damage-only augments look tempting, but they leave you too squishy for the chaotic teamfights in Mayhem. If you get a strong defensive augment early, you can play much more aggressively.
Q1 deals physical damage, and if you wait a short moment before casting Q2, the second hit converts a portion of the damage to true damage. In quick trades, use Q1, auto-attack, then Q2 to maximize the burst. You want to space the casts so the true damage procs, but do not wait so long that the enemy escapes or trades back.
Rush Sundered Sky or Eclipse for the sustain and burst, then build into damage items like Hubris or defensive options like Sterak's Gage depending on the enemy composition. You need some form of healing or shielding to survive the initial burst when you dive in. Avoid full tank builds because your damage falls off hard without attack damage items.
You suffer against constant poke, so play far back and look for Snowball (Mark) engages or wait for your E to come off cooldown before committing. Do not walk up to farm or poke back, as you will get chipped down and forced to heal. Wait for the enemy to waste key cooldowns, then engage with full HP and your E speed boost.
Use W to slow enemies and heal yourself, especially when you hit the outer edge on champions. In a dive, cast W as you approach or after your E engage to slow the target and keep them in range for your Q combos. Do not use it point-blank if you need the slow, since the outer edge is what applies the strong slow and healing.
Your Q2 true damage shreds through health, so you actually perform well against tanks if you can isolate them and get multiple rotations off. The problem is that tanks often have crowd control that stops your combo, so save your E to dodge their key abilities. Do not fight them head-on without your true damage ready, or they will out-sustain you.
Engaging with E1 onto a wall but missing E2 or hitting the wrong target is the fastest way to lose a fight. Another common error is using R too early on a tank, which wastes the lockdown and leaves you with no way to catch the enemy carry. Always check your positioning and the enemy cooldowns before you commit.
Snowball helps you close the gap when your E is down or when there are no walls nearby to anchor on. Use Mark to dash in, then immediately follow with E or R to lock down the target. If the enemy team has too much disengage, save Snowball to re-engage after they use their escapes.
If your team refuses to follow your engages, stop diving and play for picks on enemies who overextend. You can peel for your own carries with W slow and R lockdown instead of trying to assassinate the enemy backline. Camille needs some team support to function well, so adapt your playstyle to what your team is doing.
The standard burst combo is E1 onto a wall, E2 onto the target, auto-attack, Q1, W to slow and heal, then Q2 for the true damage finish. Use your ultimate after E2 if the target might flash or dash away, so they stay trapped in your zone. Practice the timing between Q1 and Q2 to ensure the true damage converts.
She performs better against melee-heavy or squishy ranged compositions where she can isolate targets and duel them. Against multiple tanks or heavy disengage, she struggles to get value because her dives get shut down. Look for flanks or picks in ranged lobbies, and play more like a bruiser in melee brawls.
