Qiyana Empress of the Elements
Her element buffs cycle faster and hit harder than on Summoner's Rift, giving her constant access to crowd control and burst. You get more brush, river, and terrain interactions in the single-lane setting, so your passive bonus damage is almost always active. The mode's pacing favors assassins who can reset quickly, and her ultimate creates massive multi-target stuns when enemies group near walls.
Start with River element for the root and bonus damage on your first clear. The root sets up easy Q hits and lets your team chain crowd control. Save Brush for repositioning or escaping ganks, and use Terrain only when you need the execute damage on low-health targets.
Grab Brush when you need to break vision and reposition mid-fight. Use the invisibility to flank around the enemy frontline and reach their backline. Don't hold it too long—your element duration is limited, so commit to the engage before it expires.
Take Terrain when enemies are below half health and you need the execute bonus to finish them. The knockback on your Q helps peel melee divers off your teammates. Avoid grabbing it at the start of fights since the execute damage wastes potential if targets are full health.
Look for enemies standing near the map edges, tower ruins, or any terrain feature. The Royal Deception explosion stuns everyone between Qiyana and the wall, so angle yourself to hit multiple targets. You can also Flash during the ultimate cast to reposition before the shockwave fires.
Lead with Snowball to close distance, then follow with W for your element and E for the dash. This combo puts you on top of priority targets with your burst ready. If you're getting poked down, keep Snowball as an escape tool by marking a minion behind you.
Play the wave carefully and use Brush element to break line of sight. Wait for their key cooldowns to go down before committing to an all-in. Your sustain options are limited, so ask your team for healing augments or play around health relics.
Pick augments that amplify ability damage or reduce cooldowns, since her kit relies on frequent spell rotations. Lethality and penetration options help her burst through the bonus resistances common in Mayhem. Avoid attack speed or on-hit augments—she's not an auto-attacker.
Use River element to root them in place for your team to focus. Save your ultimate for their backline instead of wasting it on tanks who won't die from the burst. If they stack armor, build Black Cleaver or Last Whisper items to stay relevant.
Open with Snowball or W to close the gap, then Q with your active element for the bonus effect. Follow with E to dash through them, auto-attack for passive damage, and finish with another Q. Save your ultimate if they flash toward a wall—you can stun them for the cleanup.
Look for pick opportunities with your ultimate when enemies overextend near terrain. Use Brush element to scout bushes and set up ambushes with your team. Focus on landing roots and stuns rather than trying to 1v1 anyone.
Go full damage early to maximize your assassination potential—Qiyana needs to delete targets to stay relevant. Add a defensive item like Guardian Angel or Edge of Night if you're getting blown up before you can combo. Don't build tank; your kit offers no utility without damage threats.
E is your primary gap closer and damage tool, so don't waste it for minor repositioning. Dash through your target to land both the initial hit and your Q at point-blank range. Save it for when you're ready to commit, since you're vulnerable without an escape.
Don't hold your element buffs waiting for the perfect moment—they expire and you lose the bonus effects. Avoid ulting enemies in the open field where the shockwave has nothing to collide with. Never dive without a plan to get out, especially if their crowd control is still available.
She excels with teammates who can follow up on her crowd control, like mages with area damage or fighters who need a gap closer. In poke comps, she provides the engage tool to finish off low targets. Avoid picking her if your team already has too many assassins and no frontline.
