Taliyah the Stoneweaver
She is a control mage who excels at zoning enemies and disrupting engages. Her wall creates massive terrain in a single-lane fight, which is more valuable here than on Summoner's Rift. She struggles against hard dive comps that can ignore her peel, but she dominates against immobile teams.
Play like a zone controller rather than a burst assassin. Use your Q to poke enemies off their wave and save your E to stop dashes. If enemies cannot engage on you, they slowly lose health to your sustained damage.
Max Q first for damage and lane control. Your Q is your primary damage source and waveclear tool. Put a second point in E at level 4 if the enemy team has multiple dashes, then finish maxing W for lower cooldowns on your displacement.
Save E for when enemies actually dash or try to engage. If you cast it on the ground without a dash, it only slows and does less damage. The true power is the knockup and bonus damage when someone dashes through the minefield, so patience wins trades.
W is a targeted displacement that pushes enemies in a direction you choose. You can knock them toward your team for a kill or push them away to save yourself. The vector cast takes practice, so aim to push enemies into your E Minefield or away from your carries.
Open with E on the ground where enemies want to stand, then use W to knock them into the mines. Follow with Q while they are knocked up or slowed. If you have your ultimate, you can cut off their escape path before you engage.
Use it to split the enemy team or cut off retreats after your team lands poke. A well-placed wall forces enemies to either fight in a bad position or wait while you reposition. Never use it to engage alone unless your team is ready to follow up.
Start with mana sustain items like Lost Chapter into Luden's Companion or Malignance. Follow with Rabadon's Deathcap for scaling and Zhonya's Hourglass for survival against dive. If enemies stack magic resist, grab Void Staff as your third item.
Pick augments that boost ability power, ability haste, or ability effects. Anything that adds slow, burn, or execute damage works well with her sustained poke pattern. Avoid attack speed or healing augments since she does not auto-attack or lifesteal effectively.
Keep your E and W available when you see them look for an angle. E stops their dash and knocks them up, which ruins most assassin engages. If they get on top of you, W them away and kite back toward your tower or team.
Heavy dive comps with multiple gap closers are her worst nightmare. Champions like Zed, Kha'Zix, or Master Yi can dodge your E and ignore your wall. Poke mages with longer range like Xerath or Ziggs also outrange her and force her to take bad trades.
Use Snowball to reposition or escape rather than engage. You can Snowball over terrain to safety or use it to close distance for a W knockback on a priority target. Do not Snowball into the enemy team unless you have Zhonya's and your cooldowns ready.
Her passive gives her movement speed near walls, which is always active on the Howling Abyss bridge. Use this to dodge skillshots and reposition quickly during fights. The speed helps you kite melee champions who try to chase you down.
Use Q through the minion wave when enemies are not threatening to engage. If minions are dying too fast, let your teammates help and focus on poking the enemy champions instead. Your E also damages minions, so you can clear and zone at the same time.
Wasting E on the ground when no one is dashing. This removes your only defensive tool against engages and leaves you vulnerable. Always hold E until you see a dash animation or a clear engage attempt from the enemy.
