Katarina the Sinister Blade
Her reset mechanic on kills or assists turns teamfights into chain reaction massacres. Mayhem's faster pace means more frequent all-ins, giving her constant opportunities to snowball. If she secures one takedown, her cooldowns reset and she can immediately dive the next target.
Use Snowball to mark a low-health target, then dash in only when your team has already chunked them. Don't lead the fight yourself; wait for your frontline to engage and absorb the initial burst. Your job early is cleanup, not initiation.
Drop Death Lotus after the enemy team wastes their major crowd control abilities. If you ult too early, a single stun or knockup will cancel your damage and likely kill you. Look for moments when key threats like Leona or Alistar have already used their combos.
You must play the waiting game and let your teammates bait out the dangerous abilities first. Consider building a Quicksilver Sash or Banshee's Veil if you keep getting caught by instant crowd control. Sometimes the best play is to enter the fight several seconds late when the enemy cooldowns are down.
Throw a Dagger with Q, then position yourself so enemies retreat over the blade when it lands. Catching a Dagger by walking over it spins and deals massive area damage, which is your primary trading tool in lane. Always plan your escape route to pass through a Dagger for the damage and movement speed.
Pure damage is usually correct because your reset mechanic rewards aggressive play and quick kills. If you cannot survive the initial burst to get a reset, you contribute nothing to the fight. A defensive item like Zhonya's Hourglass can save you, but only buy it if you are getting instantly deleted.
Shunpo resets when you pick up a Dagger, giving you multiple dashes in a single fight. Use this to hop from enemy to enemy while weaving in auto-attacks and Dagger catches. You can also Shunpo to friendly minions, wards, or allies to escape a bad situation.
Open with Q to throw a Dagger, then E onto the target and W to spawn a second Dagger behind you. Position yourself to catch both Daggers during the fight for massive burst damage. Finish with your ultimate if they are still standing, or chase with another E if they try to run.
Dodge behind your minions and wait for the enemy to overextend or run out of mana. You heal between waves in Mayhem, so you can afford to take some chip damage if it means setting up a kill opportunity. Look for a Snowball mark on a squishy target who steps too close to your side.
Prioritize augments that enhance your reset potential, ability power, or cooldown reduction. Anything that helps you survive the initial engage or deal more burst damage will snowball your kit faster. Avoid utility or tank-focused augments unless your team has no frontline at all.
Switch to a cleanup role and only engage when a teammate has already lowered an enemy's health. Focus on catching Daggers for waveclear and wait for the enemy to make a positioning mistake. One good reset chain can turn a losing game around, so stay patient and look for the right angle.
Aim your Q at the squishy backline instead of the tanks standing in front. If tanks dive your team, use them as stepping stones to Shunpo past the frontline and reach the damage dealers. Your ultimate shreds through multiple targets, so hitting their entire team is often better than focusing one tank.
Yes, Snowball is essential for closing distance and creating engage opportunities in a mode with no flanking routes. It lets you mark a target from safety, then commit only when the timing is right. Without Snowball, you rely entirely on Flash for gap-closing, which is not enough in ARAM.
Play as a short-range assassin who pokes with Q and looks for Dagger catches. Your passive damage from Daggers is still significant, so you can trade and skirmish without your ultimate. Just avoid full all-ins until Death Lotus is ready, since you lose a huge portion of your burst.
