Zac the Secret Weapon
He thrives in constant teamfights where his passive blobs let him sustain through heavy poke. The Mayhem pace means abilities fly faster, so his engage connects more often before enemies react. You become a disruptive frontline that refuses to die, forcing enemies to overcommit resources just to keep you down.
Prioritize augments that boost crowd control duration, ability haste, or healing power. Extra tank stats help, but Zac scales best when he can engage more frequently and lock people down longer. If you see an augment that spreads or enhances his knockups, grab it immediately.
Don't panic when your health drops; your passive spawns blobs that heal you when you pick them up. Enemies can step on them to destroy them, so position your abilities near allies or away from immediate danger. In Mayhem's chaos, opponents often ignore the blobs, giving you massive sustain over extended fights.
Charge your E from behind minions or fog so enemies struggle to react in time. A full charge gives maximum range and knockup, but a short charge works when you need a quick disruption. Release early if someone tries to dive your backline, saving your team while still creating chaos.
E is usually better for the lower cooldown and longer engage range, letting you start fights on your terms. Q offers more poke and slow utility, which helps against kite-heavy comps that stay out of slingshot range. Match your choice to whether you need to engage or peel for your carries.
Pop it right after you land a slingshot or Q pull to chain knockups while gaining movement speed. You can also use it to escape bad situations since the bounces make you untargetable between hits. Don't hold it for too long; the disruption and speed often matter more than saving it for a perfect moment.
Sunfire Aegis or similar tank mythics give you damage while you sit on enemies' faces. Spirit Visage amplifies your healing from blobs and any support on your team. If they have heavy crowd control, consider Tenacity items so you don't get kited to death after engaging.
Play patient and let them waste cooldowns while you collect blobs to sustain. Look for angles to charge E from unexpected positions, cutting off their retreat. If you engage onto their main poke threat, your team can collapse before they reset the distance.
Your sustain drops hard, so play more like a pure engage tool than a drain tank. Focus on landing knockups and peeling for your damage dealers instead of trying to outlast their damage. Wait for Grievous Wounds to wear off before expecting your blobs to keep you alive.
Marking an enemy with Snowball gives you a free gap-closer to set up your Q or ultimate. You can Snowball in, then use E to reposition or chase another target. It also helps you escape if you mark a minion behind you before going in deep.
Hard kite and disengage comps can render you useless if you never get in range. Champions with percent-health damage or anti-heal cut your sustain down fast. Coordinated enemies will destroy your blobs, denying your passive and leaving you vulnerable.
You become the sole engage, so don't waste your E on risky poke. Wait for enemies to overextend, then punish with a full slingshot onto their carries. Build pure tank and focus on disruption over damage, buying time for your squishies to work.
Stay grouped; ARAM: Mayhem is all about constant teamfighting, and Zac excels in the chaos. His waveclear is decent, but his real value comes from turning 5v5 brawls in your favor. Roaming to side lanes wastes your teamfight dominance and leaves your allies without an engage tool.
Hit E to knockup, then Q to grab and slow them as they land. Follow with your ultimate to chain more knockups while chasing down scattered targets. If you have Snowball ready, use it mid-fight to stick to anyone trying to flash or dash away.
