Rengar the Pridestalker
He is very viable but plays differently than Summoner's Rift. You cannot farm the jungle for stacks, so your power comes from aggressive early all-ins and augments. Accept that you will die sometimes, and focus on deleting a high-value target before you go down. A 1-for-1 trade is often a win if you shut down the enemy carry.
Every ability generates one Ferocity, and reaching 4 stacks empowers your next ability. You can stack safely by hitting the wave with Bola Strike or using Battle Roar when multiple enemies are near. Do not wait for a perfect moment; generate stacks constantly so you are ready to burst. The Mayhem pace means you should almost always have Ferocity available.
Savagery is your primary damage tool for bursting squishies. Use empowered Bola Strike if you need to root a mobile target that might escape your jump. Empowered Battle Roar is a defensive option for the heal and cleanse, useful when you are low and need to survive burst. Default to Savagery for damage, but react to the situation.
You leap automatically when attacking from brush or while invisible during Thrill of the Hunt. In Mayhem, brush placement is limited, so you cannot rely on passive leaps for every engage. Use your ultimate to force the leap when no brush is nearby. Position near the small brush patches on the bridge to poke, but do not overstay or you will get poked down.
Use it to engage on isolated targets or to flank enemies hiding behind their tank line. The movement speed and invisibility let you bypass the frontline and jump directly onto the backline. Do not pop it at full health if the enemy has point-and-click crowd control waiting. Wait for key cooldowns to be blown, then activate and delete a carry.
Snowball acts as a gap-closer when your ultimate is down or brush is too far. Tag a squishy target, mark them, and use the dash to get into leap range. This burns your escape tool, so only commit when your team can follow up. It is also useful for closing the distance after an enemy flashes away from your initial jump.
Lethality items like Serylda's Grudge and Opportunity maximize your burst damage against soft targets. You want to kill enemies in under two seconds, so raw damage is usually better than bruiser items. If the enemy team has multiple tanks, consider adding Black Cleaver or Blade of the Ruined King as a third item. Glass cannon builds are high-risk, high-reward, which fits the Mayhem style.
Empowered Battle Roar removes crowd control, so save it for the moment you get stunned or rooted. Do not blow it for damage at the start of a fight if the enemy has reliable CC. Edge of Night is a strong purchase to block one critical spell before you engage. If they have too much CC, wait for them to waste abilities on your frontline before you go in.
Prioritize augments that increase burst damage, lethality, or ability haste. Augments that add effects to your first attack or boost movement speed synergize well with your ultimate engage. Avoid augments that require long fights to stack, since Rengar wants to end fights quickly. Raw damage and cooldown reduction let you reset and go again faster.
Do not waste your full combo on a tank with high armor and crowd control. Look for angles to bypass them and hit the damage dealers instead. If you must fight a tank, use Black Cleaver to shred armor and kite back when they turn on you. Your job is assassination, not frontline brawling.
Shift your focus to cleanup kills and assists rather than trying to force 1v1s. Use your ultimate to catch low-health enemies retreating from teamfights. Build cheaper lethality components and focus on survival items like Guardian Angel. One good ultimate onto a fed carry can swing the game back in your favor.
Teamfighting is your only real option since there are no side lanes. Look for flanks from the side brush or use your ultimate to approach from an unexpected angle. Do not stand with your team in a ball; you are an assassin who needs to find the angle. Wait for the chaos to start, then pick off the targets that overextend.
Open with four Ferocity stacks, then leap from brush or ultimate onto the target. Mid-air, cast Savagery and Bola Strike, then immediately use your empowered Savagery. This double-cast mechanic shreds squishies before they can react. Practice the timing so your abilities buffer during the leap animation.
It is a strong late-game purchase when you are the primary engage tool for your team. The revive lets you dive deep, trade kills, and potentially rejoin the fight with a heal from your team. Do not rush it early, as the components delay your lethality spike. Buy it when dying means losing the game or when the enemy focuses you instantly.
