Azir the Emperor of the Sands
He is a late-game monster but suffers from a slow ramp-up time. You spend the early minutes poking and farming, waiting for your attack speed and cooldowns to come online. Once you have two or three items, your sustained damage melts anyone who cannot instantly burst you down.
Learning to position your soldiers for maximum cone damage is essential. You want to place soldiers on opposite sides of the minion wave or enemy team to zone multiple angles at once. Never leave your soldiers clustered, or the enemy will simply sidestep all your damage.
Cast your E to dash to a soldier, then immediately cast Q to reposition that soldier behind your target. This extends your knockup range and sets up your ultimate to push enemies back into your team. Only attempt this when you have flash or a clear escape path, because diving deep leaves you vulnerable.
Use it to peel assassins off your backline or to pin enemies against a wall. In Mayhem, the cooldown is low enough that you do not need to save it only for perfect five-man plays. Using it to guarantee a single kill on a diving bruiser is often better than dying while waiting for a flashy engage.
Focus on last-hitting minions with your soldiers to rush your core items. Use your long-range poke to chip away at enemies who step up to clear the wave, but conserve your mana for critical moments. Avoid extended trades early because your attack speed is too low to win duels against most other marksmen or mages.
Prioritize augments that increase your attack speed, ability power, or soldier durability. Attack speed feels the smoothest because it lets you stutter-step between soldier attacks more easily. If you see an augment that adds crowd control or slows on hit, take it to make landing your combos much simpler.
Save your ultimate specifically for their all-in engage. When they commit, push them away and kite backwards while your soldiers chip them down. If you burn your ultimate on offense, you have zero tools to survive their burst.
It is a niche tool that helps you siege or defend when your team loses tower pressure. You can summon the Sun Disc to block skillshots or add extra damage during a prolonged siege. Do not rely on it for damage, but use it as a distraction that forces enemies to target something else.
Start with a mana-regeneration item to sustain your constant soldier repositioning. Rush into your core attack speed and ability power items to hit your mid-game power spike as fast as possible. If the enemy team has heavy dive, consider an early defensive component like a giant's belt or negatron cloak.
Use your soldiers to clear the wave from a safe distance and force the enemy to farm under their tower. Do not walk up to auto-attack if it means eating a Morgana binding or a Lux ultimate. Your goal is to survive to late game where your sustained damage outclasses their cooldown-dependent poke.
Trying to force the Shurima Shuffle when a simple peel ultimate would save the fight. Players often dive in, die, and leave their team without damage. Remember that your primary job is consistent damage, not being the engage tank.
The faster gold generation and reduced cooldowns let you hit your power spike much earlier than on Summoner's Rift. You can afford to play more aggressively with your soldier placement because you recover from mistakes faster. Use the Snowball summoner spell to close gaps for unexpected ultimates, but be careful not to teleport into a bad situation.
Throw Snowball to mark a target, then use the dash to get into ultimate position. As you arrive, cast your ultimate to shove the marked enemy into your team. This is a high-risk play that works best when your team is ready to follow up instantly.
You have to play even more cautiously and use your soldiers to zone enemies before they reach you. Your ultimate becomes your only defensive tool, so hold it until the enemy commits to a fight. Kite backwards around your soldiers and force the enemy to chase you through your damage zones.
