Targets Lissandra Punishes

Lissandra thrives against champions who lack reliable disengage or need to commit deeply to fight. Her ultimate creates a guaranteed kill zone on anyone who oversteps, and her root shuts down melee divers who try to engage on her team.

  • Katarina: This is a classic shut-down matchup. Katarina wants to Shunpo in and spin for resets, but Lissandra can point-and-click her ultimate the moment Katarina commits. The instant lockdown denies the reset chain before it starts. In Mayhem, where cooldowns are shorter, Lissandra can have this answer ready for nearly every fight. Katarina has no way to cancel the suppression and will die if she engages first.
  • Master Yi: Yi relies on Alpha Strike to dodge damage and Meditate to sustain through burst. Lissandra ignores both tools. If Yi Alpha Strikes onto your team, you cast Frozen Tomb on him immediately. He cannot dodge the point-and-click targeting. If he tries to Meditate under tower or in a scrap, your Q spam and ultimate interrupt his channel and lock him down for your team to collapse. Yi must wait for Lissandra to use her ultimate before engaging, or he risks getting deleted.
  • Kai'Sa: Kai'Sa's ultimate allows her to fly into the backline, but she lands in a predictable spot. Lissandra can preemptively place her W or hold R for the landing. Once Kai'Sa dives in, she has no escape tool beyond a short dash. A rooted or frozen Kai'Sa in the middle of your team dies instantly. Lissandra forces Kai'Sa to play passively or risk getting caught the moment she tries to isolate a target.
  • Nilah: Nilah wants to hookshot in and use her ultimate to group enemies for a wipe. Lissandra punishes this approach heavily. When Nilah slides in, a quick W roots her before she can cast her own ultimate. If she does get her knockup off, Lissandra can self-cast R to deny the follow-up damage and heal while the enemy team wastes cooldowns. Nilah's short range puts her directly in Lissandra's kill zone.
  • Fiddlesticks: Fiddlesticks relies on channeling Drain and landing a surprise Crowstorm. Lissandra's Q spam interrupts Drain channels from a distance. If Fiddlesticks flashes into your team with Crowstorm, Lissandra can instantly R him, stopping his movement and denying the bulk of his damage. Fiddlesticks is too squishy to survive being frozen in the center of your team.

Threats That Punish Lissandra

Lissandra struggles against long-range poke, champions who can engage from outside her root radius, and enemies who can interrupt her engage attempt before she reaches her target. She is also vulnerable to anti-shield and healing reduction when relying on her ultimate's sustain.

  • Xerath: This is a miserable lane for Lissandra. Xerath outranges her significantly and can poke her down before she ever gets in range for E. His stun lands easily on Lissandra if she tries to claw forward. In Mayhem, the reduced cooldowns mean Xerath keeps her permanently low on health. Lissandra cannot engage without taking heavy damage, and even if she reaches him, a quick stun lets him reposition. She needs to dodge skillshots perfectly or wait for an ally to engage.
  • Ziggs: Ziggs clears waves faster and forces Lissandra to dodge constant bombs from a distance. His passive empowers his auto-attacks, making it risky for Lissandra to walk up for farm. If she tries to E onto him, Ziggs can place his satchel charge to knock himself away and knock Lissandra back, interrupting her engage. His ultimate also forces Lissandra to scatter or take massive damage. She cannot close the gap reliably without taking a bad trade.
  • Tristana: Tristana's jump resets on kills, and her ultimate pushes Lissandra away. If Lissandra tries to E onto Tristana, a good player will jump away or ult her mid-flight. Tristana also shreds towers quickly, forcing Lissandra to defend under structures where she cannot roam or flank. The explosive charge damage adds up fast in extended fights. Lissandra must catch Tristana overextended or coordinate with a teammate to bait the jump.
  • Kog'Maw: Kog'Maw outranges Lissandra with his bio-arcane barrage and long-range artillery ultimate. He can shred her from a distance before she finds an angle. Even if Lissandra kills him, his passive creates a chase scenario where she might die to his explosion. Kog'Maw's damage output in Mayhem is oppressive, and Lissandra lacks the mobility to dodge his sustained fire. She needs to flank or catch him distracted.
  • Olaf: Olaf's ultimate ignores all crowd control, which completely negates Lissandra's primary threat. She cannot root him, slow him, or freeze him. If he runs at her with Ragnarok active, she has no tools to stop his approach. Her only option is to self-cast R and hope the heal and stasis buy time for her team to kill him. If her team cannot burst him down, she dies immediately after the stasis ends. Lissandra must play far back and wait for his ultimate to expire before engaging.

Playing Around the Threats

Against long-range poke champions, Lissandra should focus on wave clear and survival rather than forcing engages. Wait for an ally with a gap-closer to start the fight, then follow up with E-W-R on a priority target. Against Olaf or other CC-immune threats, save the ultimate for a different target or use it defensively on yourself to stall for time. Never lead with E into a team that has reliable disengage, or you will get caught out and deleted before your team can follow.
