Team Synergy

Cassiopeia is a sustained damage engine who needs time to ramp up and space to operate. In Mayhem, where burst damage and global ultimates fly constantly, she struggles to get her poison rolling if she gets deleted instantly. She offers no hard engage and limited poke, so she relies on teammates to provide a frontline, set up crowd control, or lock enemies in place for her Petrifying Gaze. Her ideal team gives her the breathing room to land Noxious Blast and machine-gun Twin Fangs without getting dove.

Core Teammate Synergies

  • Amumu (High Value)

Synergy Mechanism: Amumu provides the massive area lockdown that Cassiopeia lacks. His Bandage Toss and Curse of the Sad Mummy set up perfect Petrifying Gaze angles, often resulting in a total team wipe if chained correctly.

Combo: Amumu lands Bandage Toss or flashes for R. While enemies are stunned, Cassiopeia walks up and casts Petrifying Gaze directly over the immobilized pile. She then layers Miasma and Noxious Blast to keep them poisoned while spamming Twin Fangs.

Best Scenario: The enemy team is grouped in a chokepoint or around a health relic. Amumu engages, and Cassiopeia follows with her ultimate to extend the disable chain, allowing her to melt multiple targets with zero retaliation.

Enemy Answer: Tanks with magic resistance or Quicksilver equivalents may survive the initial burst. Disengage supports like Janna can knock Amumu away before he lands R, breaking the setup.

Failure Risk: If Amumu misses his engage or dies instantly to Mayhem-level burst before casting R, Cassiopeia is left without an initiator. She cannot force a fight on her own.

Recovery: Fall back and use Miasma to zone the chokepoint. Poke with Noxious Blast until Amumu respawns or cooldowns reset.

  • Orianna (High Value)

Synergy Mechanism: Orianna offers a shield to help Cassiopeia survive burst, and her Command: Shockwave groups enemies for Cassiopeia’s damage. The ball placement on a diving ally creates a dual-threat zone.

Combo: Orianna places the ball on a tank ally or Cassiopeia herself. When enemies cluster, Orianna casts Shockwave to pull them in. Cassiopeia immediately casts Petrifying Gaze on the pulled group, stacking the crowd control for maximum duration.

Best Scenario: A messy mid-fight engagement where enemies try to dive the backline. Orianna uses Shockwave defensively to stop the dive, and Cassiopeia turns to stone anyone caught in the radius.

Enemy Answer: Fast assassins or long-range poke mages can kill Orianna before she gets her ult off. Spell shields can block the Shockwave, ruining the combo.

Failure Risk: Miscommunication on the ultimate timing leads to overlapping crowd control that diminishes returns, or enemies simply walk out of the slow zone before the ultimates land.

Recovery: Use Miasma to cut off escape routes. Kite backward with Twin Fangs while Orianna provides disengage with her ball speed boost.

  • Malphite (High Value)

Synergy Mechanism: Malphite is the ultimate "press R to win" engage partner. His Unstoppable Force guarantees a knockup, giving Cassiopeia a free setup for her own ultimate or just time to apply poison.

Combo: Malphite targets the enemy backline with R. Cassiopeia times her Petrifying Gaze to catch enemies either as they land from the knockup or as they try to turn and fight. She then fills the area with Miasma.

Best Scenario: The enemy team has squishy carries that rely on positioning. Malphite forces them to scatter or die, and Cassiopeia punishes anyone who fails to dodge the engage.

Enemy Answer: Heavy peel tanks like Tahm Kench or Lissandra can neutralize Malphite after he lands. High-damage Mayhem builds might simply kill Malphite before he reaches the team.

Failure Risk: Malphite engages too deep without Cassiopeia in range to follow up. She lacks the mobility to cross the distance quickly, leaving Malphite to die alone.

Recovery: Push the lane with Miasma and Noxious Blast to reset the minion wave. Wait for Malphite to be available before forcing another all-in.

  • Nautilus (Medium-High Value)

Synergy Mechanism: Nautilus provides point-and-click lockdown with Depth Charge. This guarantees at least one target stays still for Cassiopeia to focus down with Twin Fangs.

Combo: Nautilus targets a high-priority enemy with R. While they are knocked up, Cassiopeia lands Noxious Blast and unloads Twin Fangs. She can layer Petrifying Gaze behind the target to catch anyone trying to peel for them.

Best Scenario: Picking off a lone enemy who overextended for poke. The chain crowd control ensures the target dies before they can reach safety or use defensive items.

Enemy Answer: The enemy team collapses instantly after the pick. Cleanse or QSS effects break the lock, allowing the target to flash or dash to safety.

Failure Risk: Nautilus hooks a tank or a champion with a Zhonya's effect. Cassiopeia dumps her cooldowns into an unkillable target, leaving her vulnerable to the counter-attack.

Recovery: Immediately drop Miasma on the frontline and retreat. Do not chase the failed pick into enemy towers.

  • Seraphine (Medium Value)

Synergy Mechanism: Seraphine provides the healing and shielding Cassiopeia desperately needs to survive Mayhem burst. Her Surround Sound gives movement speed, helping Cassiopeia kite, and her Encore extends crowd control chains.

Combo: Seraphine builds stacks and casts her ultimate to charm the enemy frontline. Cassiopeia lines up a Petrifying Gaze to catch enemies as the charm ends. Seraphine keeps Cassiopeia healthy with heals, allowing her to trade aggressively with Twin Fangs.

Best Scenario: A prolonged poke war or a scrappy team fight where sustain matters more than instant burst. Seraphine keeps the team topped up while Cassiopeia chips away with poison.

Enemy Answer: Anti-heal augments or items cut the sustain down. Hard engage teams can bypass Seraphine's poke and dive Cassiopeia before the shields apply.

Failure Risk: The team lacks a true tank. Both Cassiopeia and Seraphine are squishy backliners; if the enemy has a strong dive comp, they will get run over without a meat shield.

Recovery: Play extremely far back. Use Miasma to create a no-man's-land and rely on long-range Noxious Blast pokes until the wave resets.

Team Functions Cassiopeia Needs Most

  • Hard Engage: Cassiopeia cannot start fights. She needs a teammate like Malphite, Amumu, or Nautilus to force the enemy to stand still and fight.
  • Frontline Distraction: She draws massive aggro once she starts spamming Twin Fangs. A tank must sit in front of her to absorb skillshots and aggro while she channels her damage.
  • Disengage: If Cassiopeia gets dived by a Mayhem-enhanced assassin, she often dies. Teammates with knockbacks like Poppy or Janna help create the space she needs to reset her positioning.
  • Sustain or Shields: In a game mode defined by high damage, a single shield or heal often makes the difference between Cassiopeia dying to burst and surviving to output her massive sustained DPS.
