Team Synergy

Lulu functions best as a dedicated enabler in Mayhem. She does not carry games through raw damage; she carries by extending the lifespan of a teammate who does. The chaotic pace of the mode means burst damage flies constantly, so her ability to neutralize threats with Whimsy and stabilize dives with Wild Growth makes her a premium pick for protecting a hyper-carry or enabling a relentless diver. She needs teammates who can capitalize on her speed boosts and shields, and she relies heavily on her team having a frontline presence since she offers no solo engage tools.

Core Teammate Needs

  • Primary Engage: Lulu cannot start fights. She needs a tank or assassin to initiate so she can follow up with disruption.
  • Reliable DPS: Shields are most efficient when applied to targets with high sustained damage output, not burst mages who go on cooldown after one rotation.
  • Peel Support: While Lulu provides excellent peel, having a secondary source of crowd control prevents her from being the sole focus of enemy divers.

Top Synergy Pairings

1. Kog'Maw (Highest Value)

This is the classic "protect the carry" composition, and it scales incredibly well in Mayhem. Lulu’s kit solves Kog’Maw’s primary weakness: his lack of mobility and vulnerability to hard engage.

  • Synergy Mechanism: Kog'Maw relies on standing his ground to output damage. Lulu’s Help, Pix! and Whimsy allow him to kite melee attackers, while her ultimate provides an instant health buffer and knockup when he gets dived.
  • Combo: When Kog'Maw activates his Bio-Arcane Barrage, Lulu should layer Whimsy for the attack speed boost. If an enemy assassin commits, immediately cast Wild Growth to knock them away and give Kog'Maw the HP needed to lifesteal through the burst.
  • Best Scenario: The enemy team lacks long-range poke and relies on melee divers or short-range mages. Kog'Maw shreds them before they can reach him, and Lulu ensures they never get there.
  • Enemy Answer: Long-range artillery mages like Ziggs or Xerath, or hard crowd control that bypasses Lulu’s polymorph (like suppression or instant knockups). They can kill Kog'Maw from outside Lulu’s shield range.
  • Failure Risk: If Lulu wastes Whimsy on a fleeing enemy instead of saving it for peel, Kog'Maw dies to the first gap-close. Once the carry is down, Lulu has almost no damage to contest the point.
  • Recovery: Play for the respawn timer. Lulu should use her disengage to keep the rest of the team alive long enough for Kog'Maw to return.

2. Master Yi (High Value)

Master Yi thrives in Mayhem due to reduced cooldowns and constant fighting. Lulu turns him into an unkillable raid boss.

  • Synergy Mechanism: Master Yi benefits from both the movement speed and attack speed of Whimsy. More importantly, Lulu is one of the few supports who can save a Yi who gets stunned or burst down during his Meditate channel.
  • Combo: Yi initiates with Highlander. Lulu waits for him to draw aggro, then shields him. The moment he begins to take heavy damage or gets crowd-controlled, she ults. The knockup disrupts enemy combos, allowing Yi to reset his Alpha Strike.
  • Best Scenario: Team fights where the enemy blows cooldowns on Yi. Lulu’s intervention forces the enemy to overcommit, at which point Yi can clean up with resets.
  • Enemy Answer: Point-and-click crowd control or Grievous Wounds. If Yi is stunned before he can Alpha Strike, Lulu’s shields may not be enough to save him through the burst.
  • Failure Risk: Lulu mistimes the ultimate. If she ults too early, the knockup might miss the divers. If she ults too late, Yi dies before the health growth applies.
  • Recovery: If Yi dies, Lulu must disengage immediately. She cannot duel the enemy team alone. She should look to slow pursuers with Glitterlance to save herself and other teammates.

3. Yasuo (High Value)

Yasuo creates a "flow" state in Mayhem where constant dashes make him hard to target. Lulu enhances this slipperiness and covers his all-in mistakes.

  • Synergy Mechanism: Yasuo needs to stack his flow and get into melee range. Whimsy gives him the speed to close gaps and the attack speed to stack his Steel Tempest faster. Lulu’s polymorph neutralizes the enemy frontline trying to lock him down.
  • Combo: Yasuo lands a knockup and casts Last Breath. As he enters the fray, Lulu shields him. If the enemy team collapses, she polymorphs the highest damage threat. The Wild Growth knockup can also set up Yasuo for a follow-up Steel Tempest if he misses his own.
  • Best Scenario: Fights in narrow corridors where Yasuo’s Windwall blocks multiple projectiles and Lulu’s Glitterlance hits the entire enemy team.
  • Enemy Answer: Burst mages who can damage through Windwall, or tanks who can lock Yasuo down before he dashes. Veigar or Lissandra can cage him instantly, rendering Lulu’s peel difficult to apply.
  • Failure Risk: Yasuo dives too deep for Lulu to follow. Her range is limited; if he crosses the bridge or dives under a tower, she cannot apply the shield or ult in time.
  • Recovery: Lulu should not chase a doomed Yasuo. She turns and protects the remaining backline, using Glitterlance to slow the enemy reset.

4. Jarvan IV (Strong Engage Value)

When the team needs a hard engage rather than a protect-the-carry dynamic, Jarvan IV is the ideal partner.

  • Synergy Mechanism: Jarvan creates a zone of death with his Cataclysm. Lulu ensures he survives the initiation and amplifies the chaos inside the arena.
  • Combo: Jarvan lands his EQ combo and ults the enemy backline. Lulu immediately casts Wild Growth on him as he lands. This creates a massive knockup zone inside the Cataclysm, trapping enemies in a disrupted state while Jarvan deals damage.
  • Best Scenario: The enemy team is grouped tightly or relies on immobile carries. The combined lockdown from Jarvan and Lulu prevents them from flashing or dashing away effectively.
  • Enemy Answer: Mobile champions with dashes or blinks can escape the Cataclysm, leaving Jarvan and Lulu stranded in a bad position. Vayne or Tristana can simply jump out.
  • Failure Risk: If Jarvan misses his combo or engages 1v5, Lulu is forced to use her cooldowns on a dying tank. This leaves the actual damage dealers on her team unprotected.
  • Recovery: Lulu should save Whimsy to speed Jarvan out if the engage goes wrong. If he dies, she falls back to the ADC or mage to peel for them.

5. Jinx (Strong Scaling Value)

Jinx offers the range that Kog'Maw provides but with better crowd control and tower-taking potential.

  • Synergy Mechanism: Jinx wants to get a reset and snowball. Lulu’s Whimsy attack speed boost helps her trigger that first kill faster. Once Jinx gets excited, Lulu keeps her alive to chain the resets.
  • Combo: Jinx uses her Zap! or Flame Chompers to set up a kill. Lulu speeds her up with Whimsy to chase. If Jinx gets dived, Wild Growth gives her the buffer to lifesteal or reposition.
  • Best Scenario: Extended team fights where Jinx can cycle through her minigun and rockets. Lulu’s sustained shielding shines here compared to burst healing supports.
  • Enemy Answer: Assassins who can bypass Flame Chompers. Zed or Talon can delete Jinx faster than Lulu can react if they flank from fog of war.
  • Failure Risk: Jinx gets caught early in the fight. Without her damage, Lulu’s team lacks the DPS to finish off tanks, leading to a slow loss.
  • Recovery: Lulu uses Glitterlance to create a slow field, buying time for Jinx to respawn or for the rest of the team to disengage.
