Targets Lulu Punishes
Lulu dominates immobile marksmen and predictable engage champions. Her kit turns their greatest strengths—sustained auto-attacks or all-in commitment—into liabilities. In Mayhem's chaotic environment, she amplifies mistakes instantly.
Immobile Auto-Attackers
- Jinx: Jinx relies on extended trades and ramping attack speed. Whimsy shuts down her Get Excited! resets by polymorphing her just as she secures a takedown, denying the passive burst. Help, Pix! effectively doubles her return damage during trades. If Jinx uses Zap! for poke, the windup gives Lulu ample time to interrupt or reposition. Lulu's ultimate, Wild Growth, knocks up anyone trying to dive her backline, ruining Jinx's cleanup phase.
- Kog'Maw: Kog'Maw needs to stand still to output damage. This makes him an easy target for Glitterlance poke. When he activates Bio-Arcane Barrage, a well-timed Whimsy neutralizes his damage window entirely. If he tries to chase with Living Artillery, Lulu speeds up an ally to sidestep or engage. His lack of escape means a single polymorph often leads to death.
- Varus: Varus must stop moving to fire Piercing Arrow. Lulu interrupts the charge or punishes the stationary position with a full Glitterlance. His ultimate, Chain of Corruption, is a prime target for Wild Growth; Lulu can ult the infected ally to gain health, knock up pursuers, and break the engage rhythm. Without Flash, Varus has no answer to a polymorph followed by focused fire.
Predictable Engage Champions
- Amumu: Amumu's Bandage Toss is a straightforward linear engage. Lulu can polymorph him mid-flight or immediately upon landing, stopping his Curse of the Sad Mummy windup. If he flashes for ultimate, Wild Growth on the primary target provides enough health and knockup to waste his initiation. Amumu becomes a sitting duck once his cooldowns are gone.
- Malphite: Unstoppable Force cannot be cancelled, but Lulu can render it ineffective. She saves Whimsy for the moment Malphite lands, polymorphing him before he can follow up with Ground Slam. Alternatively, she ults the target he slams into, absorbing the burst and counter-cc'ing the enemy team. Malphite commits hard; Lulu simply resets the fight.
- Leona: Leona's Zenith Blade puts her deep into enemy territory. Lulu punishes this overextension by polymorphing her immediately, stripping defensive stats and preventing Shield of Daybreak. Without her cooldowns, Leona is isolated and easy to kill. Lulu's disengage makes Leona's all-in style a liability for her own team.
Threats That Punish Lulu
Lulu struggles against long-range burst, untargetable dives, and hard crowd control that bypasses her reaction window. Her defensive kit relies on timing; enemies that force her to use abilities defensively or delete targets before she can react cause her to falter.
Long-Range Burst Mages
- Lux: Lux outranges Lulu significantly. Illumination procs and Lucent Singularity spam force Lulu to heal frequently or lose health chunks. If Lulu tries to poke, Lux can snare her with Light Binding and delete her with Final Spark before Wild Growth saves her. The danger zone is massive; Lulu must respect the bind threat or get one-shot.
- Xerath: Xerath pokes from outside Lulu's effective range. Arcanopulse and Eye of Destruction force constant movement. Rite of the Arcane lets him snipe low-health targets from safety. Lulu cannot polymorph what she cannot reach. Her only option is to dodge and wait for an engage angle, but Xerath's sustained barrage keeps her team perpetually chipped.
- Ziggs: Ziggs clears waves and pokes simultaneously with Bouncing Bomb and Mega Inferno Bomb. Lulu's disengage matters little when the threat comes from across the map. If she tries to advance, Hexplosive Minefield zones her out. Ziggs forces Lulu into a defensive posture, limiting her ability to enable allies.
Untargetable and Reset Assassins
- Master Yi: Master Yi's Alpha Strike makes him untargetable during his damage window. Lulu cannot polymorph him mid-Alpha. She must predict the landing spot and preemptively cast, but a skilled Yi reacts to her animations. Meditate negates her poke. If he snowballs, he deletes targets faster than Wild Growth can save them. Lulu needs teammates with instant cc to cover her weakness here.
- Katarina: Katarina's Shunpo resets make her nearly impossible to lock down. Lulu can interrupt Death Lotus with Whimsy, but Katarina can bait it out with daggers and re-engage instantly. The threat is the reset chain; one mis-timed polymorph leads to a penta. Lulu must hold her cc for the ultimate and hope her team bursts Katarina during the window.
- Zed: Zed's Living Shadow and Death Mark create a 1-2 punch that Lulu struggles to track. She can ult the marked target to survive, but Zed can swap back to safety and re-engage. Razor Shuriken poke forces her to use mana on healing. If Zed lands a full combo, the pop damage often exceeds Wild Growth's heal. Lulu needs to shield pre-emptively and track both Zed and his shadow.
Hard Crowd Control and Anti-Heal
- Veigar: Event Horizon stuns instantly if Lulu touches the edge. A caught Lulu dies to Primordial Burst before she can react. Her small health pool makes her a prime target. She must play far back and rely on teammates to engage, but Veigar's cage zones entire areas, limiting her positioning options.
- Brand: Brand's burst combo stuns with Sear after a Blaze application. Pyroclasm bounces in Mayhem's clustered fights, dealing massive damage. Lulu cannot outheal the burst. If she gets stunned, she dies. Anti-heal items like Morellonomicon further reduce her sustain, making her shields and ult less effective over time.
Lulu thrives when she controls the pace. Against poke and burst that outrange her, or assassins that bypass her reaction window, she must play passively and rely on teammates for setup. Her value drops if she is forced to use abilities purely for self-survival.
