Targets Braum Punishes
Braum thrives against champions who rely on blocking or interception to survive, because his passive breaks their rhythm faster than they can reset. He also ruins low-range engage comps that need to stack on top of one target.
- Yasuo: Windwall stops projectiles, but it does nothing to Braum's passive stacks applied by basic attacks or his Q. Once Braum tags Yasuo with a Q or a single auto, he can walk through Windwall and finish the stun with autos. Yasuo's dash-heavy playstyle actually helps Braum apply stacks faster. If Yasuo tries to dash through your team to reach a carry, Unbreakable absorbs the knockup from his ultimate landing, and your passive stun interrupts his flow before he can get a second spin.
- Sona: She is fragile and relies on hitting power chords from a distance. Braum's Q range matches her poke zone, and a single hit applies a slow that makes her easy to chase down. When she tries to flash-ult your team, you can react with your own ultimate to knock her up before her cast completes, or raise Unbreakable to block the damage for the allies behind you. Once she is stunned, she usually dies in one rotation.
- Katarina: Her entire burst pattern requires her to sit on a target and spin. Braum's passive stun interrupts her ultimate instantly, and you do not even need to target her directly—just auto her once during the spin. Unbreakable shreds the damage of her daggers if she tries to poke before going in. In Mayhem, where cooldowns are short, she may try to reset multiple times, but Braum can reliably cancel every attempt.
- Lucian: He wants to weave spells between autos for his passive double-shots. Braum's shield blocks both the spell and the auto, forcing Lucian to waste mana and cooldowns for zero damage. If Lucian tries to dash sideways, a well-placed Q slow makes his kiting ineffective. Once Braum lands a stun, Lucian has no real escape tool outside of his dash, which is often already burned.
- Miss Fortune: Her ultimate is a cone of projectiles, which is exactly what Unbreakable is designed to dismantle. If you position between her and your team, the shield absorbs the vast majority of her damage. She has no dash to reposition, so a Q slow into a stun makes her an easy target for your backline to delete. Even if she lands a good ultimate, Braum's presence turns a team-wipe ability into a minor inconvenience.
Threats That Punish Braum
Braum struggles against true damage, percent-health damage, and crowd control that bypasses his shield. He also has trouble with poke that forces him to drop his guard before the real fight starts.
- Vayne: Her Silver Bolts deal true damage based on maximum health, which ignores the damage reduction on Unbreakable. She can also tumble through or around the shield, rendering it useless against her direct attacks. In a prolonged skirmish, she stacks her passive faster than Braum can peel her off his allies. If she condemns him against a wall, he has no way to escape before the stun lands.
- Veigar: The cage creates a zone where Braum cannot effectively use his shield to protect others. If Braum steps on the edge, he is stunned, and his shield does not block the burst that follows. Veigar's ultimate executes based on missing health, so even if Braum survives the initial burst with his defensive stats, the finisher is difficult to itemize against. The best play is often to dodge the cage entirely, but that forces Braum to give ground.
- Brand: His passive burns percent health over time, which punishes Braum for building pure health and resistances. The stun from his passive spread can be triggered by any ability, and Braum's close-range playstyle makes it easy for Brand to get a double-stun on him and an ally. Unbreakable can block the initial pillar or fireball, but if Brand lands his ultimate on a bouncing target near Braum, the shield offers no protection against the spread.
- Vel'Koz: True damage from his passive research stacks bypasses Braum's damage reduction. Vel'Koz can poke from outside Braum's engage range, forcing him to take damage or burn cooldowns closing the gap. The knock-up from his E creates a window where Braum cannot raise his shield, leaving the team exposed. If Braum tries to block the ultimate beam, the true damage component still shreds him faster than he can sustain.
- Blitzcrank: A hook over the shield forces Braum out of position and isolates him from his team. The knock-up combo gives the enemy team a free window to burst him down before he can recover. Unlike skillshots that Unbreakable absorbs, the hook is a displacement that cannot be blocked. If Braum misses his own ultimate while being pulled, he has almost no tools to disengage.
Understanding these matchups is about recognizing when your shield matters and when it does not. Braum wins by forcing enemies to fight through him on his terms. He loses when enemies ignore his shield with true damage, bypass it with crowd control, or poke him down before he can close the distance.
