Targets Samira Punishes

Samira thrives against champions who lack instant burst or reliable disengage. In Mayhem, where ability haste is abundant, her Style meter stacks quickly, letting her access inferno Trigger (R) much faster than in standard modes. She punishes immobile mages and enchanters who cannot stop her dash-reset cycle.

  • Vel'Koz – He relies on skillshots and a channeled ultimate. Samira can dash through his Void Rifts to close distance. Her Wild Rush (E) dodges the knockup from his Tectonic Disruption if timed correctly. Once she reaches melee range, he has no escape tool. She can also interrupt his Life Form Disintegration Ray with her own ultimate or a well-timed auto-attack, completely negating his damage window.
  • Jinx – Jinx depends on keeping enemies at long range with traps and speed. Samira ignores the traps by dashing over them or through allies. Without a dash, Jinx cannot create space once Samira commits. The danger window for Jinx is the moment she uses her Zap! or Super Mega Death Rocket; Samira can engage during the cast time. Jinx must burn Flash or die.
  • Sona – Sona offers sustain and poke but has extremely low durability. In Mayhem, her healing cannot keep up with Samira's burst. While Sona's Crescendo is a threat, Samira can use Blade Whirl (W) to destroy the projectile or block the stun if she reacts fast enough. If Sona whiffs her ultimate, she becomes a free kill. Samira dashes in, stacks Style, and ends the fight before Sona's cooldowns return.
  • Varus – He is a poke-heavy marksman with no mobility. His ultimate, Chain of Corruption, is his only safety net. Samira can block the ultimate projectile with her W, rendering him defenseless. Once that tool is down, Varus cannot stop Samira from all-inning him. She punishes his stationary charging animation for Piercing Arrow by closing the gap instantly.
  • Ashe – Ashe relies on perma-kiting and her Enchanted Crystal Arrow to start fights or disengage. Samira's W destroys the Arrow mid-flight, negating the stun. Without the Arrow, Ashe has no way to stop a Samira dive. The slow from Ashe's basic attacks is annoying but irrelevant once Samira enters melee range and starts her ultimate.

Threats That Punish Samira

Samira is a high-commit champion. Her dash puts her in the middle of the enemy team, and her ultimate requires her to be in danger range. In Mayhem, the increased damage values mean that crowd control is often a death sentence. She struggles against point-and-click CC, displacement, and burst that outpaces her healing.

  • Malzahar – This is a nightmare matchup. Malzahar's Nether Grasp (R) is a point-and-click suppression that goes through Blade Whirl. Samira cannot block it, dash away, or cast her own ultimate while suppressed. In Mayhem, the damage from his full combo usually kills her before the suppression ends. Her playstyle must shift entirely to waiting for Malzahar to use his ultimate on someone else. If she engages before he burns it, she dies.
  • Warwick – Warwick's Infinite Duress (R) is another unblockable suppression that locks Samira down. Beyond the ultimate, his passive healing makes it difficult for Samira to burst him during her Inferno Trigger. If she ults him, he often outheals the damage while lifestealing off her. She cannot escape his blood hunt speed. The risk boundary is clear: do not fight Warwick alone, and never dive him under a tower.
  • Alistar – Alistar is the anti-dive tank. His Headbutt-Pulverize combo interrupts Samira's rhythm instantly. Even if she gets her ultimate off, Alistar's Unbreakable Will (R) reduces her damage to almost nothing. He creates a zone where Samira cannot function. If she dashes in, he knocks her back or up, isolating her from her team. She must wait for his cooldowns or rely on teammates to burn his ultimate first.
  • Janna – Janna excels at resetting fights. Her Monsoon (R) channels to heal allies and knock enemies back. This directly counters Samira's Inferno Trigger by pushing her out of range, canceling the ability. Even if Samira tries to chase, Janna's constant disengage makes stacking Style nearly impossible. The threat isn't just damage; it is the denial of Samira's entire game plan. Janna's Howling Gale also knocks Samira out of her dash animation.
  • Lissandra – Lissandra has point-and-click lockdown with her Frozen Tomb (R). She can cast it on herself to become invulnerable while damaging nearby enemies, or cast it on Samira to shut her down completely. Samira cannot block the ultimate with W. In Mayhem, the burst damage following a Lissandra stun is usually fatal. Lissandra's Ring of Frost also creates a zone that roots Samira if she tries to dash through it, punishing her aggression.

Playing Samira in Mayhem requires reading the enemy's cooldowns. Against poke comps with no hard CC, she is a raid boss. Against teams with point-and-click suppression or heavy disengage, she must play like an assassin waiting for the perfect window. If she goes in too early, she gets locked down and deleted. If she waits for the Malzahar or Warwick ultimates to burn, she can clean up the fight with a full-reset Inferno Trigger.
