Engage and Style Management
Samira lives and dies by her Style grade. You cannot force a fight without a plan to stack it. In Mayhem, the pace is frantic, so use the chaos to your advantage. Tag enemies with your Q to start building stacks before you commit. If you hit a champion, you get two stacks instantly. Hitting multiple champions with one Q does not give extra stacks, so do not tunnel vision on hitting the whole team for style points. You just need to hit something.
Look for your E dash as the true engage tool. Do not use E just to close distance if you have no follow-up. Ideally, you Q an enemy, stack a second hit with an auto-attack, then E onto a low-priority target or a minion to get into the heart of the fight. This puts you at Style grade "B" or higher immediately. Never engage at grade "E" unless you are cleaning up a 1v1. The windup on your ultimate is too long to start from zero in a crowded Mayhem fight.
Narrow-Lane Spacing and Poke
ARAM is a single lane, and Mayhem amplifies the clutter. You have to play the spacing game differently than on Summoner's Rift. Use your W (Blade Whirl) to block incoming poke while you farm style. If you see a linear skillshot coming, W destroys it and gives you a stack. This is your primary tool for existing in the lane without getting chipped down. Do not hold W for too long; the cooldown is manageable, and blocking a single stun or heavy nuke is worth more than saving it for a hypothetical all-in.
Keep your distance variable. You want to be close enough to Q the frontline, but far enough to react to a dive. If you stand still, you die. Constantly weave left and right. When you hit Style grade "S", the range on your ultimate is deceptively large. You do not need to be melee range to pop it. Sometimes the best spacing is hitting S, backing up slightly to avoid a point-blank CC, and then ulting from mid-range to catch their backline in the crossfire.
Snowball Timing
Snowball is your gap-closer and your panic button. Do not use it to start a fight if you are at zero style. That is a suicide mission. The correct Snowball pattern is: build style with Q and autos, throw Snowball, if it hits, fly in, and immediately look for the ultimate. If you miss the Snowball, do not panic. Just reset your positioning and look for another angle.
Use Snowball defensively to dodge key abilities. In Mayhem, cooldowns are fast, so holding Snowball for a specific threat like a hook or a cage is often better than using it for damage. If you get caught out, Snowball through an enemy champion or minion to create distance. This resets your position and forces the enemy to turn around. Since your E also dashes, you have two tools to reposition. Use Snowball for the long travel and E for the short, precise adjustment.
Target Priority and Ultimate Usage
Your ultimate, Inferno Trigger, hits everyone in a cone. You do not need to click the carry to kill the carry. Your priority is hitting as many targets as possible while you are safe. If their frontline is in your face, use them as the primary target for your ult. The AoE will shred the backline standing behind them. This is crucial in Mayhem where teams often ball up.
Trigger your ultimate the instant you hit Style "S". Do not wait for the perfect moment. The delay between hitting S and pressing R is a window where you can get CC'd and cancelled. If you see the S pop, mash R. The only exception is if you are about to be hit by a knock-up or stun. In that case, use W or Flash to dodge first. A cancelled ult is a disaster. It leaves you without your biggest damage tool and often without your escape plan.
Counter-Engage and Defensive Play
Samira is a strong counter-engage champion because of her W. When the enemy dives you, they often dump all their abilities at once. Pop W to destroy their projectiles and create a safe zone. This disrupts their burst combo. While they are waiting for cooldowns, you can turn. Q them point-blank, auto-attack, and E through them to their backline. This puts you behind their engage, forcing their divers to turn around.
If you are getting collapsed on, do not run straight back. Turn and fight if you have your cooldowns. Samira excels in messy, close-range brawls. If you can get to Style "S" while being chased, you can often 1v2 or 1v3 with an ultimate and lifesteal. However, if your E and W are down, you are vulnerable. Play passively and wait for your rotation. Without E, you have no mobility. Without W, you have no defense.
Push and Pull Rhythm
Mayhem games swing heavily on wave control. Samira is excellent at pushing waves because her Q and autos clear quickly. If you have a style lead, push the wave under their tower. This forces them to farm under tower, giving you free poke opportunities. Use Q to harass them while they try to last hit. Do not dive blindly under towers unless you have a clear exit strategy via Snowball or E.
If you are losing, do not try to force a push. Let the wave come to you. Farm safely with Q and use W to block their siege. Your goal is to stall for items. Samira scales well with attack damage and lifesteal. Once you hit a power spike, look for a pick on an overextended enemy. The rhythm of the game should be: push when you have style and cooldowns, pull back and farm when you do not.
Dive Timing
Diving in Mayhem is risky because towers hit hard and death timers are significant. Only dive when you have a numbers advantage or when the enemy has no cooldowns. If their CC is down, you can E onto them, tank a shot or two, and ult to finish them. Use Snowball to exit the tower range if possible. If you kill the enemy but get stuck under the tower, E to a minion or champion outside the tower range to escape.
Coordinate with your team. Do not dive alone. Samira is flashy, but she is not a tank. If you go in 1v2 under a tower, you will likely die. Wait for your tank or support to engage. Follow up with your damage. Your job is to clean up the fight, not to start it under a tower.
Behind-State Damage Control
When you are behind, you cannot play like an assassin. You become a secondary damage dealer. Stop trying to force the "S" grade play. Focus on consistent damage with Q and autos. Build defensive items or lifesteal earlier than usual. You need to survive the initial burst to be useful. Stay behind your frontline. Use your W to protect your carries if you cannot carry yourself.
Look for cleanup kills. When the enemy uses their big abilities on your teammates, that is your window. E in late, after the chaos has started. You might find low-health targets you can burst down to reset your cooldowns. This is how you get back into the game. One good cleanup fight can give you the gold to even the playing field. Do not tilt and force bad fights. Patience is the only way to recover.
