Team Synergy

Yorick in Mayhem ARAM operates as a sustained damage juggernaut who creates his own frontline through the Maiden and ghouls. He does not burst people down instantly. Instead, he swarms the lane, creates chaos in confined spaces, and forces enemies to waste cooldowns on his summons instead of your allies. He functions best when teammates can set up his W or keep enemies trapped inside his zone long enough for the ghoul damage to stack up. He struggles when the team lacks hard engage or reliable disengage, as he can be kited easily if the Maiden is ignored or killed.

What Yorick Needs From a Team

  • Hard Engage or Catch Potential: Yorick’s W is powerful but has a delay and limited range. He needs teammates who can stun or root enemies in place, guaranteeing the cage lands and keeping targets inside for the full duration.
  • Zone Control and Siege Support: While Yorick creates a pushing wave with ghouls, he needs allies who can poke or threaten enemies hiding under towers. This prevents the enemy from clearing his summons instantly.
  • Peel for the Maiden: The Maiden is a massive source of damage. Teammates who can slow or knock back enemies trying to dive the Maiden will exponentially increase Yorick’s effective DPS.

Top Teammate Synergies

  1. OriannaHigh Synergy

Synergy Mechanism: Orianna’s ball provides vision and zone control, and her ultimate creates a perfect setup for Yorick’s W. If Orianna lands a Shockwave, Yorick can drop the cage directly on the clumped enemies, ensuring they cannot escape the Maiden’s attacks.

Combo: Orianna places the ball on an engage ally or Yorick. Once she uses Command: Shockwave to group enemies, Yorick immediately casts W to trap them inside the pull radius. He then summons ghouls and calls the Maiden to attack the immobilized targets.

Best Scenario: The enemy team is grouped in a choke point near a tower or health relic. Orianna forces them together, and Yorick’s swarm shreds them while they are stunned and caged.

Enemy Answer: Enemies with quick dashes like Ezreal or Tristana can escape the Shockwave before the cage locks. Cleanse or Quicksilver items can break the disable and allow them to flee the zone.

Failure Risk: If Orianna misses the ultimate, Yorick’s W is easily dodged by a mobile target. He then wastes the cooldown and has no way to force a fight.

Recovery: Yorick should play passively and use ghouls to clear the wave while waiting for cooldowns. Orianna can use her shield to protect him during this window.

  2. Miss FortuneHigh Synergy

Synergy Mechanism: Miss Fortune provides the massive AoE damage that Yorick lacks. Yorick’s cage acts as a containment zone that keeps enemies inside Bullet Time. The ghouls also add to the visual chaos, making it harder for enemies to track the bullet waves.

Combo: Yorick lands a cage on one or more targets. As soon as the walls trap them, Miss Fortune channels her ultimate down the lane. Yorick sends the Maiden to attack the caged target to apply damage and healing reduction.

Best Scenario: A teamfight breaks out in the open river area or just in front of an inhibitor. Yorick traps the enemy frontline, and Miss Fortune sweeps the backline caught in the crossfire.

Enemy Answer: Hard engage assassins like Zed or Talon can jump on Miss Fortune and interrupt her channel. Tanks with high magic resist can walk through the cage walls (taking damage) to reach your backline.

Failure Risk: If Yorick traps an enemy tank but the squishies stay outside, Miss Fortune might waste her ultimate on a low-value target.

Recovery: Yorick can use the Maiden to split push or siege the tower while Miss Fortune repositions. The ghouls provide pressure even if the ultimate combo fails.

  3. LeonaStrong Synergy

Synergy Mechanism: Leona offers the reliable point-and-click lockdown that Yorick craves. Her Zenith Blade and Solar Flare make landing Yorick’s W almost guaranteed. She also acts as a secondary frontline, drawing aggro away from the Maiden.

Combo: Leona engages with Zenith Blade into Shield of Daybreak. Yorick places W on the stunned target. Leona follows with Solar Flare if the fight extends, keeping the enemy locked down while ghouls and the Maiden attack.

Best Scenario: Catching a squishy enemy mage or marksman who overextends for poke. Leona holds them down, and Yorick’s summons delete their health bar.

Enemy Answer: Alistar or Janna can knock Leona or Yorick away, breaking the chain of crowd control. Enemies with QSS can remove the stun and dash out of the cage.

Failure Risk: If Leona dives too deep without Yorick’s summons ready, she gets melted instantly. Yorick cannot follow up fast enough without his ghouls.

Recovery: Yorick uses E to slow enemies chasing Leona and creates a distraction with the Maiden while she retreats to a health relic.

  4. SwainStrong Synergy

Synergy Mechanism: Swain and Yorick form a drain-tank duo that becomes nearly unkillable in a sustained Mayhem fight. Yorick’s cage keeps enemies in range of Swain’s Demonic Ascension pull. Both champions want to stand in the middle of the chaos and heal off multiple targets.

Combo: Swain activates his ultimate and pulls enemies. Yorick throws E to mark the group and drops W to trap them inside Swain’s pull radius. The Maiden and ghouls attack the marked targets, healing Yorick while Swain drains the entire enemy team.

Best Scenario: A prolonged teamfight where the enemy team lacks heavy anti-heal. The two of them stand their ground and out-sustain the enemy damage output.

Enemy Answer: Anti-healing items like Morellonomicon or Bramble Vest are mandatory against this pair. Burst mages like Lux or Veigar can delete them before the healing ramps up.

Failure Risk: If the enemy disengages instantly, Swain wastes his ultimate duration, and Yorick’s ghouls despawn without doing damage.

Recovery: Yorick sends the Maiden down a side lane or uses it to siege while Swain looks for a flank angle to re-engage.

  5. AzirSituational Synergy

Synergy Mechanism: Azir’s Emperor’s Divide can shove enemies into Yorick’s cage or keep them trapped inside it. This creates a "kill box" where enemies have no escape route. Azir also provides the poke and tower damage Yorick needs to end games.

Combo: Yorick lands a cage on a target. Azir uses his soldiers to shuffle the enemy team further into the cage or wall them off from escape. Azir then attacks the trapped targets with soldier auto-attacks.

Best Scenario: Defending or sieging a tower. Azir zones enemies away from the tower while Yorick’s ghouls push the wave. If they engage, Azir knocks them back into the swarm.

Enemy Answer: Mobile assassins who can ignore Azir’s wall or dash over Yorick’s cage ruin this setup. Hard engage that bypasses the zone control forces Azir to use his ultimate defensively.

Failure Risk: Azir might accidentally shuffle enemies to safety if he mispositions the wall. Yorick’s cage has a long cooldown, so a failed combo leaves them vulnerable to a counter-engage.

Recovery: Yorick plays the split-push game with the Maiden while Azir clears the wave from a distance. They reset and look for the next pick.
