Early Game (Levels 1–6)

Start by establishing lane dominance immediately. Lucian excels in Mayhem because the constant fighting lets him weave passive shots between nearly every action. Position near the front of your minion wave, but stay just outside of enemy skillshot range. You want to threaten a trade whenever they step up to farm or poke.

Your trading rhythm relies on the E-Q-AA or W-AA pattern. Use Piercing Light (Q) to poke through minions and hit champions behind them. If you land a Ardent Blaze (W) mark, chase them down for the bonus movement speed to land a full combo. Do not use Relentless Pursuit (E) purely for damage early; save it to dodge key crowd control or to chase a low-health target after they burn their escape.

Snowball (Mark/Dash) is your primary engage tool. Do not throw it randomly. Wait for an enemy to miss a major ability, then tag them. If you land the mark, dash in with E, unload your combo, and use the Snowball dash to reposition or escape if the fight turns sour. If you are against heavy poke, use Snowball to force them to sidestep, creating space for your team to push.

Push the wave hard. Lucian clears minions quickly with Q and passive shots, giving you relic health pickups and lane pressure. If you get ahead, freeze the wave just before your tower to zone enemies off experience, or dive with Snowball if your support has crowd control. If you fall behind, give up the push and focus on last-hitting under tower. Use Q on the caster minions to keep the wave manageable. Your next move is hitting level 6 for The Culling (R), which gives you massive burst potential.

Mid Game (Levels 7–11)

As team fights become constant, your positioning shifts to the mid-range. You are not a long-range sniper, so you need to operate close enough to dash in and out but far enough to avoid getting caught by hooks or stuns. Look for angles where your Q can hit multiple targets.

Your trading rhythm speeds up. With lower cooldowns from levels and items, you can E-AA-Q-AA-W-AA in a single extended trade. Look for the enemy frontline to overextend. Kite them backward while firing passive shots. Once their frontline is chunked or their cooldowns are down, look for an all-in.

Snowball becomes a execution tool or a gap-closer for priority targets. If an enemy squishy is half health, Snowball them, dash in with E, and fire your ultimate. You can also use Snowball to dodge incoming burst; if you see a projectile flying at you, marking a minion and dashing to it can save your life.

Augments should amplify your burst or survivability. If you have a damage-oriented augment, play more aggressively and look for solo kills. If you have a defensive or utility augment, use it to enable your team or survive dive attempts. Push with your team to take down the first tower. If ahead, group up and siege, forcing fights around objectives. If behind, stall under your tower and look for picks with Snowball into R on overextending enemies. Your next move is securing key item power spikes and preparing for the chaotic late-game team fights.

Late Game (Levels 12+)

In the late game, every death matters. Position yourself to deal damage safely. Stay near your support or tank. Your job is to melt the closest high-value target while dodging the enemy's big cooldowns. Do not dive the backline alone unless you see a guaranteed kill and have your E up to escape.

Your poke rhythm shifts to sustained damage. Keep applying pressure with Q and W whenever they are off cooldown. Use your R to shred tanks or zone enemies off a corridor. Be mindful of your E usage; if you dash in at the wrong time, you will get collapsed on and die instantly.

Snowball is critical for catching people out or finishing off fleeing enemies. It also serves as a pseudo-gap-closer to get in range for a full R channel. If the enemy team is grouped, try to Snowball the frontline and then dash sideways to flank, but only if your team is ready to follow up.

Push as a unit. Do not get caught alone in the side brushes. If ahead, force a siege on the inhibitor turret, using your R to clear waves or harass defenders. If behind, defend the inhibitor and look for a counter-engage when the enemy dives too deep. Your next move is to end the game by acing the enemy team and pushing the core, using your high damage to secure objectives and close out the match.
