LeBlanc Mistake Guide
LeBlanc in Mayhem is a burst assassin with near-constant mobility, but she folds instantly if she wastes her escape tools. Most losses on this champion happen because players treat her like a sustained damage mage or get greedy for "style points" instead of securing a clean kill. Avoid these errors to stop feeding and start deleting key targets.
Mechanical Mistakes
-
Double-tapping W for damage while the enemy team has hard crowd control ready.
Consequence: You land in the middle of the enemy team with no way out. A single stun, root, or knock-up landing on your return spot means you die before you can press W again.
Correct Action: Use W to poke from max range, but manually reactivate it to return the instant you see a projectile or engage telegraph. If the enemy has point-and-click CC, save W strictly for dodging or repositioning until their key cooldowns are blown.
Recovery: If you are stuck in the enemy backline, immediately ult to cast Mimic W and dash to a new angle. Flash if necessary. Do not try to fight; just survive and reset your cooldowns. -
Using the E chain immediately after Q, causing the mark to detonate before the chain lands.
Consequence: You lose the bonus damage from the Q mark detonation. Your burst combo becomes significantly weaker, often leaving the enemy healer or tank alive with a sliver of health.
Correct Action: Cast Q, wait a split second for the orb to travel and apply the mark, then cast E. You need the chain to hit and trigger the mark while the tether is active for maximum damage.
Recovery: If you fumble the combo, back off immediately. You have put your main crowd control and damage on cooldown. Let your team cover you while you wait for the rotation. -
Predicting the wrong Mimic ability under pressure.
Consequence: You panic and press R, creating a Mimic W that dashes nowhere useful, or a Mimic E that misses entirely. You burn your most powerful damage amplifier for zero value.
Correct Action: In Mayhem, you often want Mimic W for AoE burst or Mimic Q for single-target nuking. Before you engage, know which button you are doubling. If you are unsure, it is better to use your basic abilities first and save R for a guaranteed finish.
Recovery: Disengage using your basic W. Without your ultimate, your kill pressure drops significantly. Play more passively and look for clean-up kills rather than starting fights until R is back. -
Misclicking the return location of Passive clone when low health.
Consequence: Your passive triggers, turning you invisible, but you panic-move back toward the enemy tower or into a skillshot. The enemy predicts your actual location and finishes you off.
Correct Action: When you drop low, stop clicking frantically. Let the clone appear, then move perpendicular to the enemy's line of sight. Use the invisibility frames to reposition to a bush or behind your tank.
Recovery: If the enemy reveals you with AoE, instantly W away. Your passive is a "second chance," not a guarantee of survival. Use your remaining mobility to get to a Health Relic or fountain.
Decision Mistakes
-
Diving the enemy tank or bruiser instead of the carry.
Consequence: You dump your full combo into a target with high magic resist and sustain. They survive, and their support heals them back up. You are now stuck in melee range of a juggernaut with no cooldowns.
Correct Action: Identify the squishiest damage dealer—usually the ADC or mage—and hold your engage for them. Use W to flank around the frontline tanks. If you cannot reach the carry, poke the frontline with Q and W, but never commit to a full all-in on a tank.
Recovery: If you accidentally engage a tank, use your remaining mobility to escape immediately. Do not auto-attack or try to finish them off. Reset and look for a better angle. -
Engaging before the enemy team uses their major crowd control abilities.
Consequence: You W in, and instantly eat a stun, root, or suppression. You get burst down before you can return or cast a spell. This is the most common way LeBlanc players feed in ARAM.
Correct Action: Watch the enemy team's key cooldowns. Wait for the Malphite R, the Veigar cage, or the Morgana binding to go on cooldown. Your window to engage opens the second they miss or waste those abilities.
Recovery: If you get caught, you are likely dead. If you survive with a sliver of health, recall immediately. Do not try to poke with low HP; one stray projectile will kill you. -
Ignoring Snowball as a setup tool.
Consequence: You rely solely on W range, which limits your engage distance. The enemy pokes you down safely from behind their minion wave, and you struggle to find an opening.
Correct Action: Use Snowball to mark a target. You do not always have to dash in. Use the mark to close the gap, then W-E-Q for the combo. The Snowball mark also forces the enemy to dodge, creating openings for your chains.
Recovery: If you Snowball in and the situation turns bad, use W to jump back to your original position or to a safer spot. Snowball is a commitment, but your W is your bail-out. -
Staying in the fight after the burst rotation.
Consequence: You kill a target, but then stand there auto-attacking. The enemy team collapses on you because your cooldowns are down. You trade 1-for-1, which is a bad trade for an assassin with long respawn timers.
Correct Action: LeBlanc is a "go in, kill, get out" champion. Once your Q-W-E-R rotation is spent, return to safety using your W reactivation or walk back. Wait for cooldowns to refresh before re-engaging.
Recovery: If you are stuck in the fight, look for a low-health enemy to chain with E. Your auto-attacks are weak, so only stay if you can secure a kill with a basic attack or Ignite. Otherwise, run. -
Building pure damage when the enemy team has heavy poke or pick potential.
Consequence: You get one-shot by a single spell or combo. You have no room to outplay because any mistake results in instant death. You provide no sustained value to your team.
Correct Action: If the enemy has high burst or catch potential, consider a defensive item like Banshee's Veil or a sustain augment. Surviving the initial burst allows you to use your mobility to reset and re-engage.
Recovery: If you built full glass cannon and are getting deleted, change your playstyle to extreme caution. Wait for the enemy to blow cooldowns on your teammates before you show yourself. Play like a cleaner, not an initiator.
Teamfight and Positioning Errors
-
Standing in the frontline before the fight starts.
Consequence: You eat free poke and crowd control. By the time the real fight begins, you are half health or burned your Flash. You cannot dive effectively.
Correct Action: Stay in the fog of war or behind your tanks. LeBlanc thrives on surprise. If the enemy does not know where you are, they cannot dodge your W-E combo.
Recovery: If you get poked down, recall and heal. Do not engage a teamfight with 30% health hoping to steal a kill. You will likely die before you deal damage. -
Using W to farm minions instead of harassing champions.
Consequence: You push the wave slightly, but your main threat is on cooldown. The enemy engages on you or your teammates while your escape is down.
Correct Action: In Mayhem, waveclear is faster and gold is abundant. Use your basic attacks and Q last-hits for minions. Save W for champion damage, dodging, or repositioning.
Recovery: If you wasted W on minions and the enemy engages, play defensively. Use E to peel for yourself or a teammate. Do not try to force a trade without your main mobility spell.
LeBlanc demands patience and precision. Wait for the right moment, commit to the right target, and always leave yourself a way out. If you stop throwing your life away on bad engages and missed combos, you will control the pace of the game.
